Hi Everyone!!
Well the season is definitely in full swing now! Sunday I was out with Marcj and another Detectorist, we managed to get a permission to an old abandoned house in the woods, not much was found, there were signs of someone being there before us, I did manage to find a nice large crotal bell, mind you its not that old but still cool nonetheless.
After the old house we did some door knocking, I managed to get us a permission at a bicentennial farm, but alas it did not last long, the father arrived and politely led us off his property, oh well. nothing lost I guess because the brother also told us that it had been detected extensively by his friend.
all was not lost though, marcj went home and I decided to go for a drive and keep on digging, I had scouted out a few location that are marked fairgrounds on fire insurance maps from 1879, low an behold they are now school yards,,, :hd3: the first signal I dug up was an 1882 Indian Head!!! :: the blood started rushing, unfortunately I was only able to detect for about 30-40 min before I had to go back home, I don't get out very often now and when I do I try to make the most of it, its funny but since the baby was born I hate wasting my time on site that I don't think will produce, my detecting outing are farther and farther apart and hate wasting my precious detecting time. :wowsers:
I also found another bell but for some reason I cant remember which site it was dug up from, this particular bell is definitely older , I also found a WHATISIT :?: , I'm hoping someone can id this
here is the WHATISIT
late last week me and marcj detected a field that has produced some early 1800's tokens for us in the past, this outing was no different. I am hoping someone can id this token for me, it is worn pretty smooth
I want to thank everyone for their input on which shovel I should buy, I had settled on the Ranger with D handle but unfortunately they were out of stock and did not feel like waiting, so I ordered The Piranha.
I will be retuning to the Fairgrounds site and the token site with Samios this weekend for a long overdue hunt, I am very much looking forward to this.
Happy Hunting Everyone
